Toddington Manor - Adam Murray-Stanford
Toddington Manor, Toddington, Gloucestershire, England

History of the Estate - Avicenna Foundation - St. Andrews Church - 3104th Sig Serv Bn. 1944

This 1820s Gothic style manor is a hidden treasure, it's not open to the public and has been empty since 1989. It can be viewed from the church yard of St. Andrews, which is at the end of a narrow lane to the left of the B4077, from Tewkesbury to Stow on the Wold. In the grounds of the Manor, near the church are the remains of the old Jacobean house. The new Manor though, is a wonderful place, lost in time. Over the years it has had many roles, such as; the HQ for The Congregation of Christian Brothers, a school, the billet for WWII American soldiers and part payment of a debt.

Latest News - New owner - Artist Damien Hirst begins extensive renovation works mid 2006.

He plans to restore it and use it to house works of Art as well as using it as a family home.

This does seem to be good news. I would also like to add that during my research of TM over the last 10 years or so, I have communicated with many people around the world who are in some way connected with the place. They will be pleased to hear that TM is now hopefully on the road to recovery. Lets also hope that with the efforts of Damien, (this his largest work so far) the Manor will be as splendid as Charles Hanbury-Tracy had intended back in the 1820s. All the best to you Damien....
